Televising Jesus’ Return (#0892)

2012/10/24 By Greg

In reviewing news stories for potential discussion on this blog, I have encountered many unusual happenings.  The latest to make that list is the preparation being undertaken by not one but two “Christian”  television networks to ensure they have the resources necessary to provide live coverage of Jesus’ second coming.  Daystar, one of the two networks, now features a live stream from the Mount of Olives on its website.

So What?

Over the years I have heard many people passionately argue for their understanding of what happens at the end of time.  While intrigued by their attempts to provide detailed explanations, I remain unconvinced.  Thankful that the realm (or reign or even kingdom if you prefer) of God is not just or even primarily about some unknown future, I have chosen to focus my energies on enlarging such in the here and now.

  • What do you think of these “Christian” networks’ attempts at strategic presence in Israel with the hope of televising Jesus’ return?
  • Do you understand the realm/reign/kingdom of God primarily as something to be lived into in this life or in the life to come? Why? Explain.
