New Year’s Blessings (#1288)

2014/01/06 By Greg

RobinsonGeneThe Huffington Post recently featured a collection of 2014 New Year’s Blessings from a variety of religious voices.  As we near the end of the first week of the year, I decided I would share two that resonated with me.

  • Bishop Gene Robinson: O God of our many understandings, bless us with a steady resolve to fight discrimination, hatred and prejudice. Bless us with compassion for those who suffer, thirst for justice and seek a relief from crushing poverty, at home and abroad. Bless us with courage and fire in our bellies for justice and equality. Amen.
  • Sharon Salzberg: May we, in this new year, know ever more clearly that all of our lives are intertwined, that everybody counts, everybody matters. May it be a year where we recognize ourselves in one another, and bring together wholehearted aspiration and dedicated effort for the happiness and well being of all.

So What?

2014 offers us new opportunities.  As you begin to live into such, take a few minutes to write out a prayer of blessing.
