New Perspectives (#0712)

2012/04/27 By Greg

Matthew Paul Turner’s recent blog post entitled “25 Christian Blogs You Should Be Reading” highlights a list of blogs he finds insightful that don’t typically receive significant attention or traffic.  After reading his list and clicking through to a few of the blogs, I started to fashion my own list.  After listing just a few I realized how easy it would be to add several dozen Christian blogs I have found of interest that would not appear on any lists of top Christian blogs.  As I skimmed potential blogs to include I was struck by the incredible theological diversity of this group.

 So What?

My journey of faith is never an independent study; it is always an experience that involves community.  Much of my own growth has come from the wisdom and experiences of those who hold differing perspectives.  When reading books or blogs, I regularly and intentionally seek out a variety of theological positions.  I also endeavor to read posts by those I know well and know about alongside posts by those with whom I am completely unfamiliar.  As I read and ponder, I often hear the voice of a still speaking God.

If you read several blogs that focus on living the Christian faith, do you find most share a similar theological vantage (e.g., Evangelical or mainline)?  How is or how might your faith be enriched by an intentional effort to read all across the theological continuum?
