I was scheduled to be the supply pastor at Central Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Dallas, Texas this morning. A winter storm arrived on Saturday bringing the Dallas – Fort Worth area to a standstill, a pause that will last at least through tomorrow. Like many congregations in the region, Central Lutheran made the difficult decision to close the church campus and cancel all in-person activities, including worship. After more than thirty years of preaching, I finally experienced my first cancelation.
Announcements Abound
Here are some of the many social media posts from area congregations I know well and have worshipped with recently:

So What?
Since Central opted for full cancellation instead of an online alternative, I had the opportunity to experience multiple worship services online while being well aware that such services would have normally been primarily in person while also reaching an online audience through live streaming.
If you are part of a church in an area of the country that was impacted by winter weather, how did your congregation respond? Did your faith community cancel some or all of the in person worship services? Was an online option offered and, if so, was it live streamed or pre-recorded?
