Then
This morning when I opened my Facebook feed I saw a number of “on this day” memories, including one from 11 years ago. On June 18, 2014, I highlighted the conclusion of my interim ministry role in Southwest Florida, “Final meeting with the Board of Trustees at United Church of Marco Island earlier this evening. It has been a blessing to serve as the Interim Senior Minister for the last 10 months.”

Now
I am currently 11 days away from completing my first year as the Interim Senior Pastor of Advent Lutheran Church – an ELCA congregation in Arlington, Texas.

So What?
Reflecting on my time serving United Church, I labeled that experience as The Church of New Beginnings.
Since my time is not yet complete at Advent Lutheran Church, I’ll wait for awhile to title this experience or to offer reflections. You can, however, read about how this role got started: Returning to Parish Ministry as Interim Pastor at Advent Lutheran.
Notably, while both of these congregations were seeking someone as their full-time Interim Senior Pastor I chose to serve each on a part-time basis. While at United Church I also served full-time at Hodges University and part-time at Naples United Church of Christ. While at Advent, I’m also serving full-time at White Rock Center of Hope.
I don’t know where I’ll be serving 11 years from now, but perhaps it will be my 11th congregation or maybe there will be 11 between now and then.
My first ten parishes appear below.
