Welcome to the month of giving thanks, a month that includes the Thanksgiving holiday.
In recent years (2023, 2022 2021), I’ve taken time in early November to reflect on all of the life experiences I had since the prior November.
Below you’ll find my Top 10 Experiences from the past year along with links to any relevant blog posts here on So What Faith.
- Serving as CEO of White Rock Center of Hope for longer than I’ve held any role in my life and guiding the organization through a year of tremendous growth (My First Year as an Ordained UCC Minister)
- Officiating Heather and Clayton’s wedding at the Washington National Cathedral
- Becoming a multi-state family when Susan accepted a position in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
- Starting as Interim Senior Pastor at Advent Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Arlington, Texas (Returning to Parish Ministry as Interim Pastor at Advent Lutheran)
- Buying a home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (to complement our home in Arlington, Texas)
- Becoming a Preaching Justice Fellow (I’m a Preaching Justice Fellow!) and preaching more than any year since 2015 (Sermons)
- Saying yes to new service opportunities, including on the Board of the South Central Conference of the United Church of Christ and the Forest Hills Homeowners Association
- Becoming a multi-interim, multi-CEO family when Susan accepted an Interim CEO role
- Vacationing in Naples, Florida and Washington, D.C.
- Writing, including 15 years of So What Faith and ongoing guest contributions to Lectionary for Life Series for the Center for Congregational Ethics (Another New Year’s Resolution?, God’s Wisdom, and Guided by Love)
I invite you to consider crafting your own list and sharing it with someone dear to you.
