I am here to offer a belated birthday wish to our dear friend the internet on the occasion of its 25th birthday, which was celebrated earlier this month. While computing was a part of my early education experiences, going online came later. My initial online endeavors were an exercise in curiosity and an attempt to be a part of the leading edge.
Somehow in just a few decades I traveled from a world in which the internet was interesting but had no real purpose to a reality in which nearly every aspect of my life is intertwined in both the online/virtual and in person/physical realms.
So What?
The future is coming. The first few decades I primarily sat back and watched others create the internet; I look forward to helping create content and craft the future of the internet in the years ahead.
- How would you describe the role the internet plays in your life now on a typical day?
- How recently have you transitioned from more of a passive reader/watcher/observer of internet content to more of a content creator and one who shares content created by others via social networks?
- What is one thing you hope happens to/for/with the internet before 2020?
