Christianity Declines by 25% in America (#2280)

2025/12/12 By Greg

Over roughly the course of my lifetime the percentage of Americans identifying as Christian has declined by 25%.

According to data from the General Social Survey,

  • In 1972, 9 out of 10 Americans (90%) identified as Christian
  • In 2024, just 6.5 out of 10 Americans (65%) identified as Christian

  • Did you realize the decline was this significant?
  • What can you do to increase awareness within your circle of influence?
  • How does this foundational knowledge inform the ways you approach membership within your local community of faith?
