A New Presbyterian Experience (#2258)

2025/09/14 By Greg

As someone who has spent about half of my life as a Presbyterian, I’m thankful for new opportunities within this tradition. Today, I served as the guest preacher at Nor’kirk Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Carrollton, Texas, on the occasion of their Round Up Sunday (elsewhere commonly referred to as Rally Day or Kick Off Sunday). Notably, this congregation is preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary next month.

My message, Love Wastefully, is based on Luke 15:1-32. You can view it below.

In recent years my new Presbyterian experiences have been many and varied, including opportunities to preach and teach

  • Eastminster Presbyterian Church (Dallas) – guest preacher (see Preaching Love – April 2024)
  • St. Mark Presbyterian Church (Dallas) – guest preacher (see Preaching Love – April 2024)
  • West Fork Presbyterian Church (Grand Prairie) – guest preacher (See Back-To-Back-To-Back – April 2024)
  • Northridge Presbyterian Church (Dallas) – guest preacher (see Preaching Identity – August 2023)
  • Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church (Dallas) – guest speaker (September 2022)
  • First Presbyterian Church (Fort Worth) – adult discipleship teacher (See A Sunday School First – 2019-2022)

I’ve also had the opportunity to attend worship in two congregations in Oklahoma City (Oklahoma)

  • Trinity Presbyterian Church (Oklahoma City) – See My Visit to Trinity Presbyterian Church – May 2024
  • Westminster Presbyterian Church (Oklahoma City) – See My Visit to Westminster Presbyterian Church – March 2024

I’m grateful for my experiences in each of these congregations. And, I’m open to more new opportunities since my fourteen month role as the Interim Senior Pastor of a Lutheran (ELCA) congregation ended a few weeks ago (see Keep Living and Loving Like Jesus – August 2025).

If your faith has been enriched by the Presbyterian Church (USA), I’d love to hear your story.
