Going Electric! (#2229)

2025/05/28 By Greg

Every vehicle I have ever owned was gas-powered until now!

Beginning to Change

In 2019 and in 2021 I purchased hybrid SUVs made by Toyota and Honda respectively. This enabled me to own and operate more environmentally friendly vehicles without ending a lifelong reliance on gas.

Going Electric

Finally, in May 2025, I made the transition to electric when I bought a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5.

So What?

I’ve been researching and learning about EVs for several years. I decided to make the shift to electric now because the federal financial incentives may expire soon and the charging options have improved with more and more charging stations in the Dallas – Fort Worth area and with the inclusion of native NACS port on this year’s Ioniq 5.

While mass transit options will likely always be more environmentally friendly than personal vehicles, the professional roles I have require travel that would be impractical or impossible without a personal vehicle.

For the not yet converted, I invite you to drive an EV or two sometime soon. I trust you’ll appreciate the instant acceleration combined with the smooth and quiet ride.
