Adjusting to Bluer Skies or Finding My Way on Bluesky (#2214)

2025/04/09 By Greg

The social media landscape has changed dramatically in recent years.

5 months ago I left the platform formerly known as Twitter (see Goodbye Twitter, X, or Whatever You’ve Become) and joined Bluesky.

I joined Bluesky during a period of rapid growth. The platform grew rapidly following the US Presidential election, growing from 11 million in October 2024 to 25 million by December 2024. And, from December 2024 to April 2025 has continued to grow, reaching 34 million users by April 9, 2025.

Discovering

I quickly connected with a few hundred folks that I had followed on X while realizing this represented a small percentage of the more than 2,000 followers I had on that platform. Over the next several months I have slowly reconnected with more of that group while also following many new people. Earlier today, my follower count finally reached 1,000.

Adjusting

I don’t know any of the statistics for my first five months on Twitter (September 2009 – February 2010). I do, however, know that in my first year on that platform I made a much smaller number of connections than I have made so far on Bluesky. And, I know that I averaged 2.7 tweets a day. By comparison, I’ve averaged 2.1 posts a day on Bluesky.

So What?

If we are not yet connected on Bluesky, I invite you to follow me on this new platform.

My content falls into three general categories

  • Quotes from newly published books I’m reading (many of those books then appear here on So What Faith as recommended reads)
  • Everyday happenings from my life and ministry
  • Thoughts about and responses to what is happening in the world

Additionally, I am there to engage and to join the conversation.

Finally, I’d appreciate your advice as I continue to learn more about Bluesky.
