We Could Wreck the World (#2208)

2025/03/19 By Greg

I’m often intrigued by the messages all around me, especially those on wheels. I’ve explored this fascination in prior posts, including

  • Turning Your Vehicle Into a Religious Billboard (October 2024)
  • Lent, License Plates, & Christian Nationalism (February 2023)
  • It’s Lent Again (March 2022)

We Could Wreck the World

A few weeks ago I as I neared downtown Dallas on I-30 on my way to White Rock Center of Hope, I observed a truck displaying an unexpected message. “We could wreck the world. Jesus Saves.”

Business Insight

The marketing trick worked. I turned to Google to learn more.. The first article I read was “God’s Wrecking Crew,” a D Magazine piece from 1992. With a little more digging I found out the catch phrase continues for the company. Take a look at the current website for Billy L. Nabors Demolition and you’ll see it

So What?

In March 2025 when I read or hear the phrase “we could wreck the world” I think about current events. And, when thinking about current events the words demolition, wrecking, and dismantling are a good fit. Those are also the words Billy L. Nabors Demolition uses to describe the services their company offers.

And, then, the Dallas area company offers a solution: Jesus saves.

I wonder what it means today for people of faith to make such a proclamation, especially during a season so focused on demolition, wrecking, and dismantling. If you are a follower of the Way of Jesus, how do you understand such a statement? And, how are you contributing to this life-giving work?

Together let us make more real God’s kin-dom on earth as it already is in heaven.
