Who is Greg Smith & What is So What Faith? (#2148)

2024/08/30 By Greg

I recently updated the About page here at SoWhatFaith.com for the first time in several years.

Now, I’m sharing the copy below as a post so that

  • you know who I am and what So What Faith is all about and
  • to provide a more permanent copy of the current about page

Note: I’m aware that the about content below is written in third person while my remarks above (and my general commentary here on the blog is written in first person).

About Greg

Greg is a follower of the Way of Jesus who is committed to doing all he can to make the world a better place for all people.

He is married to Dr. Susan Smith, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan Library System.

Faith-Based Non-Profits

Since 2018, Greg has served faith-based non-profits in the Dallas area. Currently, he serves as Chief Executive Officer of the White Rock Center of Hope – an East Dallas non-profit that cultivates hope through basic needs and personalized empowerment. This non-profit was founded by 13 East Dallas congregations in 1988 and is now supported by more than 40 local communities of faith and more than 1,000 community volunteers each year.

Known for leading organizations through strategic growth to increase impact, Greg is committed to inviting people to live out their faith while leveraging wisdom from the business community. Greg’s own education bridges these worlds, including earning a Master of Business Administration degree from Texas Woman’s University and completing the Adese Fellowship in Social Enterprise.

In both for-profit and non-profit healthcare settings, Greg has scaled the educational efforts needed to empower clinical staff to deliver quality, innovative care to underserved populations. This work included leading the education department for a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 Company, leading the educational products department for the American College of Emergency Physicians, and integrating free medical care into the holistic programs provided by a faith-based non-profit. Currently, he serves on board of the Texas Association of Charitable Clinics.
