Summer Perspective: Change of Pace (#2136)

2024/07/17 By Greg

Regardless of your life stage, summer offers a change of pace.

For the last several years I’ve started the summer off with a vacation. Each year I’ve visited my parents in Florida and have used some of this time away to reconnect with friends.

This year my time in Florida included helping my parents shop for some new furniture for their condo, enjoying a number of meals out with family and friends, visiting the beach, and attending worship in a congregation I previously served. It also provided me time for prayer, reflection, and preparation as I readied to begin a new ministry role upon my return home (see Returning to Parish Ministry as Interim Pastor at Advent Lutheran).

Prior Years

Over the years I’ve mentioned some of my summer experiences here, including

  • Look Again (2023)
  • My Ministry Journey: Another BIG Step (2021)
  • My Summer Vacation Worship Report (2016)
  • Summer Shifts (2014)
  • Mid-Year Evaluation (2012)

So What?

Summer continues until September 22.

I’m trying something new starting tomorrow. After a few years of hosting and facilitating a weekly small group experience focused on matters of faith that matter, I’m transitioning to hosting and participating while other group members each take a turn leading our summer study.

I hope you have and will schedule some intentional changes of pace in your life. And that some of these will impact your life of faith.
