Have you always wanted work in a church?
Have you always worked in a church, but never quite found your way to the ideal position?
Today, I learned of a church that is engaged in the search for a new staff person to fill an unusual role: “Director of ‘Your Dream Job’ in Ministry.”
Your Dream Ministry Job
Yes, dream jobs really do exist. And, in the case of this creatively marketed position, the job seeker has the opportunity to help write their own job description.
Job seekers ready to learn more should know that “First United Presbyterian Church (FUPC) of Belleville, IL is seeking a partner in ministry to join our team as we step out in faith and build systems to sustain us in a new era of being and doing church.” And, according to the posted job description this faith community is looking for someone who is committed to Christian discipleship, possesses a theology that celebrates and includes a love for all of God’s people, and has previous church ministry experience.
So What?
Whether or not this is your dream ministry job, I trust that the job either exists or that it could (and perhaps should). Maybe pondering this opportunity will motivate you to transform your current role into your dream job in ministry or to boldly consider applying for or beginning to prepare for such an opportunity.
For those still reading some key fine print includes
- FUPC has retained Ministry Architects as their search partner
- the role comes with a proposed compensation range of $50-60K a year plus benefits
- FUPC reports a membership of 488, an average weekly worship attendance of 249, and an annual budget of just under $900K
I’d love to hear your experience with great ministry jobs. Share the story of your best experience or relate some of what aspects or elements of your current ministry role bring you the greatest joy and at times feel like a dream job.
