Top 5 Posts of 2018 (#1768)

2018/12/17 By Greg

2018 has been a year of new beginnings for me. The year began with my family moving into a new home.  As the year progressed other major changes followed including two that appear in this year’s list of top blog posts (selected based on total number of views this calendar year):

Furniture-and-Housewares

  1. Top 10 Books of 2018 (December)
  2. Book Recommendations – May 2018 (May)
  3. Now Open (March)
  4. Book Recommendations – July 2018 (July)
  5. My Year of Social Enterprise (July)

So What?

This year’s list includes two posts related to major milestones in my life and ministry.

  • Mansfield-Mission-Center-LogoNow Open tells the story of the opening of the new Thrift Store – a major step forward in the life of the Mansfield Mission Center
  • My Year of Social Enterprise reflects on the year I spent as Director of Social Enterprise at the Mansfield Mission Center

Additionally, this year’s list includes two of my monthly book recommendation posts

  • May 2018 – a list that begins with Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks  by Diana Butler Bass  (HarperOne, 2018) and The War on Normal People: The Truth About America’s Disappearing Jobs and Why Universal Basic Income is Our Future by Andrew Yang (Hachette Books, 2018)
  • July 2018 – a list that begins with Love Undocumented: Risking Trust in a Fearful World by Sarah Quezada (Herald Press, 2018) and A House United: How the Church Can Save the World by Allen Hilton (Fortress Press, 2018)

Surprisingly the top post was only published two weeks ago.  This year’s top ten books list included two authors who appeared on prior lists (Eric Klinenberg and Diana Butler Bass). Two books stood atop the list for having the greatest impact on me

  • Future Faith: Ten Challenges Reshaping Christianity in the 21st Century by Wesley Granberg-Michaelson
  • Loving and Leaving a Church: A Pastor’s Journey by Barbara Melosh
