My Top 5 Tweets of 2018 (Jan. – May) (#1736)

2018/05/28 By Greg

SWF TwitterFive months into the year, I decided to spend some time reviewing analytics for my Twitter account (@SoWhatFaith).  According to Twitter’s analytics my top five tweets so far this year appear below in chronological order.*

  • Jan. 24 – Delighted to meet so many people doing such good work #Adese #SocialEnterprise #Boston
  • Feb. 17 – When I contemplate the meaning of Jesus, I come back again and again to his image as the ultimate boundary-breaker, in whom what it means to be human is constantly being expanded. –John Shelby Spong
  • April 7 – God is not my personal valet. God does not build a fence around my life, keep me from trouble, fulfill my personal desires, or guarantee my success. However, through prayer God offers me comfort, reassurance, satisfaction, courage, hope and peace. –Jimmy Carter
  • April 10 – Bill Hybels has stepped down http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-hybels-willow-creek-resigns-20180410-story.html
  • May 7 – Check out my May book recommendations – a strong list that includes Grateful by @dianabutlerbass & The War on Normal People by @AndrewYangVFA – http://sowhatfaith.com/2018/05/07/book-recommendations-may-2018/ … pic.twitter.com/TyShqieIKj

So What?

When I’m reading, I tend to tweet notable quotes.  Given this tendency, I’m not surprised to find quotes from John Shelby Spong’s latest book (a volume I rated 4 stars) or Jimmy Carter’s new book (another text that I rated 4 stars).  I am, however, a bit surprised to see mentions of both a former president and a presidential candidate.  This also reminds me that the domains of politics and religion necessarily overlap for those who seek to follow the Way of Jesus.

  • From the list of five tweets choose the one that intrigues you, resonates with you, or holds your attention more than the rest.  Share what tweet you chose and a bit of your rationale for choosing it.
  • Think of the many religious happenings that have been in the headlines in 2018.  What is the first story that comes to your mind?

*The top five tweets are based on total impressions. To ensure a wide range of ideas were included I excluded any tweet with a high ranking that mentioned someone already mentioned in another rated tweet.
