In the quest to keep reading new material while balancing the demands of more “jobs” than I have ever held at one time, I have opted to forgo my normal weekly book reviews for the first half of the year. When my interim pastoral ministry role is complete, I plan to resume those reviews.
Today, I share four books I have read recently that I enjoyed enough that I will recommend them (listed by rating, on a scale of 5.0):
- (5) God for Us: Rediscovering the Meaning of Lent and Easter (2014), ed. by Gregory Pennoyer and Gregory Wolfe with eight contributing authors including Kathleen Norris, Richard Rohr, and Lauren Winner.
- (5) Naked and You Clothed Me: Homilies and Reflections for Cycle A (2013), ed. by Jim Knipper with more than 25 contributing authors including Rob Bell, James Martin, and Richard Rohr.
- (4.5) Hopeful – Book 1 in the Return to Sugarcreek Series (2014) by Shelley Shepard Gray.
- (4) The Age of the Spirit: How the Ghost of an Ancient Controversy is Shaping the Church (2014) by Phyllis Tickle with Jon M. Sweeney.
So What?
I always enjoy hearing about the latest books you have read, especially those you recommend. Also, I welcome anything you would like to share about your own reading/review process whether or not you typically share what you have learned from your encounter with a new book with others.
