Top Bible Verses of 2013 (#1295)

2014/01/13 By Greg

YouVersionThe most popular Bible app, YouVersion, recently released data about how people used the Bibles they provide in 2013.  The top five Bible verses are

  1. Philippians 4:13 – I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
  2. Isaiah 40:31 – but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…
  3. Matthew 6:13 – And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
  4. Joshua 1:9 – …Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged…
  5. Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything…

So What?

Taken together, these verses suggest that people tend to “look up favorite verses for personal encouragement.”  It is also interesting to note that two of the five come from Philippians.

  • What is the last verse you recall looking up? Does it fit within this category?
  • Do any of the verses on the most popular list from 2013 surprise you?
