Kris D. Komarnitsky works in the aviation industry and is a first-time author. He wrote Doubting Jesus’ Resurrection in 2009.
Note: My review is of the updated second edition, which will be published in early 2014.
Book Basics
What I found most intriguing about this book, and what I believe will draw others in, is the author’s approach. While Komarnitsky lacks a scholarly background, he approaches the resurrection with the questions one would expect of an objective historical inquiry. Rather than being guided by his own predetermined belief, he considers what writers across the theological spectrum have to say before advancing what he finds to be the most compelling argument. Not surprisingly, he finds that like all other religions Christianity wasn’t founded on nor does it rely upon a supernatural event.
So What?
Komarnitsky’s book deserves more attention than I was able to give to it in my initial quick read. I will likely return to it at some point in the new year. In the days following the birth of Jesus, it seems a fitting time to explore what one really believes about Jesus.
- Who do you say that Jesus really is? How does that matter in your own life?
- What do you think happened at his birth? his resurrection? What books, pastors, perspectives, or conversations have contributed most to your current understanding?
