Christianity is not a Lone Ranger religion; it is experienced in community. In most cities or towns in American would be church goers have many options, including Protestant or Catholic, contemporary or traditional worship, theologically conservative or progressive, and small or large membership.
So What?
If you currently belong to a church (whether or not you are a member), think back to your original experiences that helped you discern this was the fellowship for you.
- Why did you make your first visit (did someone invite you or were you in church shopping mode and thought this congregation met several of your preferred criteria or etc.)?
- Why did you return for additional visits?
- If you chose to become a member, what helped you decide to formalize your relationship in this manner?
If you have been a part of your current congregation for any length of time, why have you stayed? What it is it about belonging that leads you to continue your affiliation?
