Frank Viola is an author and popular Christian conference speaker. He has written numerous books on the deeper Christian life and radical church reform, including From Eternity to Here, Jesus Manifesto (co-authored with Leonard Sweet – read my review here), and Pagan Christianity (co-authored with George Barna) as well as Finding Organic Church, Reimagining Church, and The Untold Story of the New Testament Church. To connect with Viola, friend him on Facebook, follow him on Twitter, or read his blog.
Two days ago he compared and contrasted his experiences with Facebook and Twitter on his blog. Viola joined Twitter about two years ago upon the recommendation of Leonard Sweet and now characterizes it as “the most intelligent/resourceful community on the planet.” He shared a list of some of the ways he uses Twitter, which included the following items:
- To get group answers to questions.
- To provide answers to people’s questions.
- To share useful resources that I’ve found.
- To keep up with other authors and friends.
- To share quotes that have impressed or impacted me.
- To promote other writers, bloggers, and new authors.
- Alerting my readers to new resources I may have created.
So What?
I joined Twitter about a year and a half ago and have had a similarly positive experience.
For those who are already tweeting
- What are the top two or three ways you use Twitter?
- Are any of the ways you use Twitter not covered in the list above? If so, what are they?
- What have you learned as a result of your participation in the Twitter community? (I shared five important lessons I have learned from tweeting a few months ago.)
For those who are not yet tweeting
- What makes the possibility of tweeting attractive?
- What is the main reason you have not yet signed up for an account?
- Who is one person you know who already is a part of Twitter that could be a resource to you if you choose to get involved?
