On this the second Sunday of Christmas, I invite you to watch one of the best Christmas videos you may not have seen. The video was created by St. Paul’s Church in Auckland, New Zealand to market their annual Carols by Glowstick event. According to Joshua Cody, who interviewed one of the creative folks behind the project, the church spent only $500 to produce the video since “everything else was supplied by the individuals, families and businesses of St. Paul’s. That goes for the talent, the creative process and the production costs.”
So What?
Does your church create original video content?
- If so . . .
- What have been some of your most successful experiences with integrating these into your on campus worship, discipleship, and programmatic ministries?
- How have you used videos in online worship and/or to market your congregation and/or some of its ministries?
- What have you identified as growing edges and how will you seek to overcome those in 2011?
- If not . . .
- How can you leverage the creativity and skills of members to produce a video sometime this year?
- Could a portion of your existing marketing budget be allocated for this purpose with the understanding that the effectiveness of the initiative would determine if this new media was an ongoing line item?
