Who is Jesus?
For the last few years, I have been studying the life and ministry of Jesus in an attempt to more fully answer the question: “Who is Jesus?” My approach has been centered in the text of the four biblical gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. My journey began when I realized that I was, at times, giving answers with great certitude even when such responses were somewhat speculative or lacked adequate gospel foundation.
In addition to reading the biblical gospels numerous times, several directed studies have proved helpful in my journey to better understand and more fully formulate my understanding of who Jesus is:
2007 – The Jesus Creed
2008 – The Jesus Priorities
2009 – Jesus’ Parables
2010 – Jesus’ Prayers
I will explore each of these studies further with blog entries in the coming weeks.
So What?
When asked, “Who is Jesus?,” what is your response? In your view of Jesus, what is the role of the four biblical gospels?
If you can answer easily, do you feel comfortable with both the content of your answer and the sources used to create and sustain it?
If you cannot answer easily or even fully, what questions do you need to spend time struggling with a bit longer and what are you doing to keep asking and growing?
