Busy is a buzzword. It is, however, also an accurate description of my world at the moment. With this in mind, I offer ratings rather than reviews for the last four books I read (listed by rating, on a scale of 5.0). For those awaiting regular weekly reviews, stay tuned! I hope to return to that feature in July.
- (5+) The Next America: Boomers, Millennials, and the Looming Generational Showdown by Paul Taylor (2014).
- (5) Learning to Walk in the Dark by Barbara Brown Taylor (2014).
- (4.5) The Church of Mercy by Pope Francis (2014).
- (4.0) Behind the Kitchen Door by Saru Jayaraman (2013).
So What?
Paul Taylor’s The Next America is the second book to earn a rating of over 5 stars on my blog so far this year. Filled with significant data about matters that matter today and will matter even more in the future, this is a book that should be read by everyone who cares about shaping the long term future of this country and/or the world — especially those tasked with leading non-profit organizations and for profit businesses.
If you have read The Next America, share something from it that has led you to begin rethinking your assumptions about the future. If you have not read it, share one current sociological trend that you feel will be of significance in the United States for those who lead in the church.
